By using the SpaGen platform to monitor or control your hot tub or spa, you acknowledge and agree to the following safety terms. 2633134 Alberta Inc. ("SpaGen") provides automation and monitoring tools as a convenience — you remain solely responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and use of your spa equipment at all times.
1. Your Responsibility
You acknowledge that:
- Hot tubs and spas involve electrical components, heated water, and chemicals that can be hazardous if misused
- Automated control features (schedules, remote commands, dosing) do not replace regular manual inspection of your equipment
- You are responsible for ensuring your spa is operated safely and in accordance with applicable local regulations and the manufacturer's guidelines
- SpaGen automation must never be used as a substitute for proper supervision, especially when children or vulnerable persons are present
2. Water Chemistry
You acknowledge that:
- SpaGen's chlorine and water chemistry readings are estimates intended to assist you — they do not replace regular manual water testing with calibrated test kits or strips
- Improper water chemistry can cause skin and eye irritation, equipment damage, and other health hazards
- You are responsible for verifying water chemistry manually before allowing anyone to use the spa
- Over-dosing or under-dosing of chemicals can cause harm — always follow the recommendations of your spa manufacturer and chemical supplier
3. Electrical Safety
You acknowledge that:
- SpaGen hardware must be installed by a qualified person in compliance with applicable electrical codes (including the Canadian Electrical Code or local equivalent)
- Never attempt to service or modify electrical components while the spa is energized
- If you suspect an electrical fault, disconnect power immediately and consult a licensed electrician before using the spa
- SpaGen is not liable for damage or injury resulting from improper installation or unauthorized modification of hardware
4. Remote Control & Automation
You acknowledge that:
- Remotely activating spa equipment (pumps, heating, dosing) without physically verifying the spa's condition first carries inherent risk
- You will not remotely activate equipment if you have reason to believe the spa may be occupied or in an unsafe state
- Scheduled automation does not guarantee the spa will be in a safe or ready condition — always inspect the spa before use regardless of its automated status
- SpaGen is not responsible for injuries, property damage, or equipment failure resulting from automated or remote commands issued through the platform
5. Children & Vulnerable Persons
Hot tubs pose serious drowning and hyperthermia risks to children and vulnerable adults. You agree to:
- Never leave children or vulnerable persons unsupervised in or near the spa
- Ensure the spa is properly covered and locked when not in use
- Follow all applicable regulations regarding safe spa use in your jurisdiction
6. Emergency Situations
In any emergency involving your spa, disconnect power immediately and contact emergency services. Do not rely on the SpaGen app to shut down equipment in an emergency — use the physical disconnect or breaker.
